Count the units, then check the space arrangement
Brampton’s additional residential unit guidance says no additional parking is required for one second unit or garden suite. If a property has two additional residential units, the City describes one additional parking space. Tandem parking is allowed under the guidance. Confirm the current zoning provisions and the unit configuration before applying this summary to a specific property.
Map the existing and proposed spaces, driveway, lot lines, and any space removed by construction. Tandem permission describes a parking arrangement; it does not create legal driveway access or settle whether a particular site can fit the required space. Check access, fire review, and any other site standards separately.
Treat the online search as an information aid
The City’s page links a GIS search tool but says the tool does not replace municipal approval and may be updated periodically. Use it to locate the applicable information, then confirm the current bylaw and any address-specific interpretation with Brampton Planning or Building staff. Record the page date, zoning, unit count, and response used for the result.
These statements describe Brampton’s local guidance; they do not establish the property’s eligibility, parking layout, or permit outcome. For a broader process, see ADU parking requirements and waivers. Hamilton and London have different local approaches; compare Hamilton’s parking exemption and London ARU site checks.
